Keith Richards or the Queen Mother — who will outlive the other?

In one of the most ghoulish contests on the internet, visitors to the Celebrity Death Pool website are being asked to nominate which celebrity will be the next to meet their maker — and entrants reckon the hard-living 56-year-old rocker is as much at risk of early demise as the century-old darling of British royalty.

It must be a slightly discomforting thought for Hollywood's senior citizens that thousands are hoping their next big write-up will be their obituary.

Anthony Quinn, Jason Robards, Doris Day and Don Knotts have all been nominated. So have Andy Griffith, Mary Tyler Moore and Elizabeth Taylor.

But there are some long-odds tips as well: Leonardo DiCaprio ("His career is dead, so why not him?" an entrant says), John Travolta, Roger Moore and Naked Gun star O.J. Simpson.

Waifish model Kate Moss's decade-long career of parties and drugs has put her in the running, while Al Gore's aspirations to take up life in the White House have made him a victim, too.

Under the rules of the game, which has been running for five years, nominations are accepted until someone on the list does expire — at which point a winner is declared, the board wipe clean and nominations begin again.

There are no prizes for correct entry — only the honor of having your name entered in the Hall of Fame. Recent winners had successfully punted on Richard Mulligan, Loretta Young, Alec Guinness and Walter Matthau.

As events this week have shown, it is not only the older stars for whom the Grim Reaper may be waiting. Lauren Hutton, the 55-year-old actor and former model, was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash near Las Vegas, while there were fears for Liza Minnelli, 54, after the Cabaret star contracted a life-endangering bout of viral encephalitis. Happily, both are reported to be on the mend.

The game is divided into two sections: Celebrity Death Pool (Hollywood stars) and Other Death Pool (politicians, musicians and minor celebrities). Among the second group are serial killers Charles Manson and Myra Hindley, and singers Whitney Houston and Johnny Cash.

The website also offers help in solving those perplexing questions that spark dinner party arguments by providing links to the two most authoritative roundups of celebrity vitality — the Dead People Server and Who's Alive and Who's Dead?
